We completely renovated and modernised an office building for the world’s largest steel corporation, whose headquarters are in Luxembourg. The office building on Avenue de la Liberté required extensive technical and structural renovation. The special logistics challenge in this project was that all of the work had to be carried out employing a just-in-time procedure. The reason: the building is in the downtown area, and there were no opportunities for storing construction materials anywhere in the vicinity.
As a consequence, every part had to be delivered precisely at the point in time when it was needed in the construction work. This procedure is a common one in the automotive industry where production processes are standardised. However, in the spatially restricted conditions of downtown Luxembourg and within the framework of a complex construction project with its many different subsections, its implementation made enormous demands on precise and well-functioning planning. The work was completed after 16 months of construction.
