The building we constructed contains 156 rooms, offering residents a wide range of service facilities, e.g. eight doctor, massage and bathing rooms, a hairdresser, a reading room and a prayer chapel. At meal times, residents gather in the spacious dining room, which is served by a large kitchen. Snacks are available in the kiosk in the canteen and there are also two recreational rooms.
The building rests on 182 drill-foundation piles and was constructed in two sections, which are connected by the entrance hall. A double-curved concrete cover is used for the roof and poured-in-place concrete and brickwork for the shell.
Construction logistics were challenging due to the fact that the nursing home was constantly in use and part of the new building had to be constructed first, into which residents from the existing building were moved. The second part of the building could only be built once the old building had been demolished.
