The Résidence Bommelbierg has been strictly optimised according to ecological and economic criteria. The highest energy consumption in any residential building is caused by the heating and hot water systems. The state-of-the-art solar panels provide the energy required for this purpose. A gas calorific-value boiler, which is also highly efficient, springs into action as a secondary utility only when weather conditions are especially bad. Realisation of this energy concept has been made possible by the use of state-of-the-art vacuum tube collectors.
The building is highly economical in its use of energy and space. The heating and sanitary facility controls are located under the roof, for example, eliminating the need for many utility shafts. Less space for technology means more space for living. Special sound insulation in general and for certain rooms creates a pleasantly quiet living atmosphere and turns some of the rooms into islands of silence. The residents use these rooms for children or as studies, for example. The Résidence Bommelbierg sets the standard of “state-of-the-art” for technology, architecture and materials.
