Centre National Sportif et Culturel
Sports facilities
00

With the completion of the National Sports and Cultural Centre, HOCHTIEF set new standards in the construction of leisure and entertainment facilities. The three curved domes which form the impressive roof construction are a combination of laminated wood beams, copper clad decking and glazed rooflights. The clear internal spans, in one of the largest free spanning buildings in Europe, gives a futuristic look to the development. The design concept was brought to fruition by the famous Parisian architect Roger Tallibert.

HOCHTIEF Luxembourg was responsible for the complete structural shell which included basement parking for 47 cars and the connection to the Olympic indoor swimming pool that HOCHTIEF itself had procured back in the 1980s.

European Court of Justice
Public buildings
00

The construction of the European Court of Justice saw a major change in the urban development of the Plateau de Kirchberg and the resulting administrative centre that exists today. The design concept was developed by the Luxembourg architectural office of Atelier d'Architecture Paczowski Fritsch & Associés. The contract for the construction of the three impressive extensions was awarded to HOCHTIEF Luxembourg on a turn-key procurement basis.

Excavation works commenced in the massive bedrock, to be found across the whole of the Plateau de Kirchberg, in 1986. The groundworks included the drilling of two tunnels to connect the new extension with the main building and also the creation of basement parking for 900 cars. The reinforced concrete structural works were procured directly by HOCHTIEF Luxembourg, whilst the finishing trades were sub contracted to renowned specialist firms from Luxembourg. In cooperation with our partners, and under the management of HOCHTIEF Luxembourg, all works were completed on time in line with the estimated budget.
